Popular streamer Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel was banned from Twitch in a surprising DMCA Violation caught live while he was streaming the Olympics.

Felix “xQc” Lengyel, a popular Twitch broadcaster, was banned from the platform while broadcasting the Olympics. During his most recent show, xQc was slapped with what looks to be a DMCA violation, resulting in a surprise ban that saw one of Twitch’s most popular streamers removed from the platform. This isn’t the first time xQc has been outlawed. Throughout his career, Felix Lengyel, who is known for his entertaining streams while playing games like GTA V: Online and Overwatch, has been banned from Twitch four times. He’s also been banned from Twitter and the GTA Online RP NoPixel server, among other places.

With six million followers and tens of thousands of viewers, xQc is one of Twitch’s most popular broadcasters. Despite his celebrity, xQc has had several encounters with Twitch law. In March 2020, the streamer received his first suspension, which banned him from the site for three days. xQc received a one-day penalty a few months later, however his worst infraction wasn’t until November 2020. xQc was banned from Twitch for seven days and was forbidden from Twitch Rival events for six months after stream sniping at GlitchCon. While the streamer was missed by fans, few could disagree that the penalty was unjust. xQc has now gotten himself into some more problems.

According to Dexerto, xQc was temporarily banned from the streaming platform after allegedly violating the DMCA. Lengyel tweeted about the incident, writing in all capitals, “I had my channel live-DMCA’d.” The prominent streamer was allegedly banned after being spotted broadcasting a judo event from the Olympics. On Twitter, xQc said, “I took the required measures and assumed everything would be OK.” “I wasn’t expecting it, but I could have easily avoided it.” The streamer then apologised to his viewers and promised to take more steps in the future to avoid this from occurring again. After barely 4 hours and 55 minutes, the streamer’s restriction was lifted.

While xQc’s supporters are outraged that he was briefly removed from Twitch, the streamer’s actions are unsurprising. Only sanctioned channels, such as live television on NBC, are allowed to broadcast the Olympics.

The Olympics are also available to watch on Twitch, although streamers are not permitted to do so. It’s no surprise that xQc was discovered, with live-tracking technology catching people illegally streaming Olympic video. While xQc was only banned for a short time, fans hope they won’t have to deal with another sudden absence. His captivating stuff is always missed, so maybe xQc has learnt his lesson for the future.
