A new image and video from the set of The Flash movie reveal another Batman appearing who could be Ben Affleck’s version of the Caped Crusader.
Another Batman appears in The Flash, according to a new video and photographs from the set, which could be Ben Affleck’s version. After Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel founded the DCEU in 2013 with the introduction of Superman, the series followed up with the debut of its Caped Crusader. Unlike his predecessors, this Dark Knight was older and towards the end of his career, which provided new story possibilities for the character.
While there was some criticism over Affleck’s casting as the new Batman, in 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, he proved the doubters wrong. Despite the film’s controversy, the actor’s portrayal of the Caped Crusader was one of the film’s highlights. In Justice League (both the theatrical and Snyder’s updated versions), he made his second and final appearance before leaving the superhero business. Now, he’s back in the DCEU, starring alongside Ezra Miller as the eponymous hero in Andy Muschietti’s The Flash.
The Flash has been in production for quite some time, with various set content giving fans an indication of what to expect from the movie. While Warner Bros. and DC Films have been tight-lipped about plot details, fans have speculated about the film’s plot. Luiz Fernando just shot a video in Glasgow, Scotland, where principal photography is in full swing. According to the source, this could be Affleck’s Batman out for a drive in Gotham. Take a look at the snapshot and video below:
Michael Keaton, who plays Bruce Wayne in the Tim Burton flicks, has previously been seen on the set of The Flash several times. Despite the fact that he is expected to return as Batman, he has yet to be seen donning the superhero’s trademark cowl and cape. Instead, he’s largely been seen in a suit, hinting that he’ll only be returning as Batman’s alter ego. Due of the multiversal nature of the independent project, Keaton and other iterations of the Dark Knight can feature in the movie. But, because Affleck’s Barry Allen is set in the same universe as Miller’s Barry Allen, and the two have a history dating back to Justice League, his involvement makes a lot more sense.
That said, chances are that the person driving the Batmobile for The Flash isn’t Affleck; in fact, he’s been sighted elsewhere, so he’s probably not even on set. If his rendition of the Caped Crusader is truly featured in Miller’s upcoming solo picture, it’ll be interesting to see if he’ll be participating in the production. As it stands, the actor is no longer a part of the DCEU, with Warner Bros. poised to release Matt Reeves’ The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, as a totally new version of the legendary superhero.
