While Goku got pretty much every transformation and variant a fan could want in Dragon Ball FighterZ, Vegeta still has a few possibilities remaining, and he’s now added another to that list.

Early manga scans of the next chapter of Dragon Ball Super’s manga have surfaced online, revealing Vegeta’s latest powered-up condition, which may go beyond the Super Saiyans. Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Dragon Ball Super chapter 74 and Granolah the Survivor Saga.

According to scans published on the internet by DBHype and others, Vegeta fights Granolah after Goku’s loss in the last chapter, but things don’t appear to be going well for the prince of all Saiyans at first.

Vegeta reverts to his base state after being kicked in the stomach in his Super Saiyan Blue form, before saying that the “blood of the Saiyan warrior race boils in his veins” and changing into his new state that has been built up since the beginning of this arc.

Vegeta’s hair has a new shading effect in this yet-to-be-named transformation, implying that it would look different than his usual jet black hair, though we don’t know for sure.

What’s most remarkable about his design here is the lack of eyebrows, which makes it look eerily similar to Super Saiyan 3’s design from the Buu Saga all those years ago.
Vegeta has been training under Beerus to get greater strength in a different way than Goku’s more angelic Ultra Instinct for the previous few chapters, therefore the new form is probably certainly derived from the Gods of Destruction’s powers.

Many people believe Vegeta’s hair will turn purple or at least be dyed purple as a result of this, especially as the ki Beerus uses is purple as well.

The same might be said for his distinct aura, which resembles fire and makes sense given that Beerus has previously been seen to create projectiles that resemble the sun.

Following his metamorphosis, Vegeta declares, “The God of Destruction taught me this,” as translated by our own Nicholas ‘MajinTenshinhan’ Taylor. “The ability to act only on instinct.”

His last sentence there suggests that this new form would work in a similar way as Ultra Instinct, but with a concentration on destructive ki rather than heavenly ki.

This arc, part of Beerus’ instruction/advice has been to persuade Vegeta not to be held back by thoughts of his previous faults or those perpetrated by the Saiyans, and to focus only on the annihilation of what’s in front of him.

We’ll have to wait until July 20 for chapter 74 to see what this new Vegeta is capable of. We can probably expect to see this form in almost all future Dragon Ball games.

It’s probably safe to presume that this transformation is far from complete and that it won’t be enough to defeat Granolah just yet. Otherwise, this would be the shortest arc in the history of Dragon Ball.
